Overview:

The foot pedal throttles EFP-005Y are equipped with a mating connector (TE 350781-1, with wire seal and interface seal), widely used as the accelerator of electric mobility and sportive carts (typical application: Marshell passenger / sightseeing vehicles).

We supply also the similar throttle model EFP-005 which has a non-waterproof connector.

3-wire 0-5K potentiometer throttle EFP-005Y is used as the speed signal feeding device for motor speed controllers, for example battery powered electric cart and boat.

Trick: when it is necessary, the throttle EFP-005Y can also be used as 2-wire 0-5K rheostat throttle, by choosing the Pot-Low terminal and Wiper wire.

About the throttle switch:

Most electric vehicle throttles have a throttle switch. Depending on the application requirement, the throttle switch can be used for different purposes:

• Main contactor control: feeding power to main contactor's control coil.
• Forward / Reverse DC contactor interlock: feeding power to F / R switch through the throttle switch. The F / R contactor will only be activated when the throttle switch is "ON" (for avoiding accidental vehicle movement in case that the F / R switch is not at neutral position when key switch is turned on).
• Lifting / Lowering interlock: when forklift is in accelerating mode, the lifting or lowering function will be inhibited, for avoiding unsafe operation.
• Accelating alarm: sending signal to a display device (for example a lamp) for showing the accelerating status of vehicle.
• Etc.

For 0-5KΩ throttle model EFP-005Y, you may choose a power source of variable DC voltage to control other devices through its internal switch. For example, your vehicle battery voltage is 48V, but you have a forward / reverse contactor of control coil rated for 12VDC, then you may use a 48V to 12V DC-DC converter to feed the 12VDC power to F / R switch through the throttle switch, for controlling the F / R contactor.

Caution: we don't recommend to apply a voltage which is higher than the voltage rate of main power source (vehicle battery) to the throttle switch.
