Overview:

The new version 1212P-2502 (CURTIS P/N 17722705S) is the updated version of 1212P-2501 (CURTIS P/N 17722702) and old version 1212P-2502 (CURTIS P/N 17722705), designed for use in low power DME applications such as micro-scooters, mini-scooters, foldable scooters, and low-end personal mobility vehicles. Although it is optimized for use on modern 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility aid scooters, its programmable options also allow it to be used on any low power permanent magnet motor application.

The 1212P-2502 controller is fully programmable, via the CURTIS Model 1313-4331 Handheld Programmer, 1314 PC Programming Station, or DALA handheld programmer (compatible with CURTIS 1313-4331). This means the controllers can be tailored to the needs of specific applications. In addition to configuration flexibility, use of the programmer offers diagnostic and test capability.

  • Motor type: brush type permanent magnet drive motor
    • Used as traction motor (continuous load): power rate ≤ 500 Watts
    • Used as hydraulic pump driving motor (intermittent load): power rate ≤ 1200 Watts
  • Electromagnetic brake option:
    • Without EM brake
    • With EM brake (need more information for controller setting)
      • Delay: range 0-1 second. Sets the length of delay between when zero speed is commanded and the electromagnetic brake is engaged.
      • Fault Check: options On / Off. Enables / disables the fault detection on the EM brake.
      • Hold Voltage: range 10–24V DC. A high initial voltage is applied to the brake coil when the brake is first released. After approximately 1 second, this peak voltage drops to the programmed Hold Voltage. The parameter should be set high enough to hold the brake released under all the shock and vibration conditions the vehicle will be subjected to.
      • Brake Light: options: On / Off. When set to On, the horn output (J1 Pin 3) will act as a brake light driver. The brake light must be driven by a relay, as shown in Figure 8. The brake light will be turned on when the throttle is returned to neutral and will remain on for about 2 seconds after the EM brake is engaged. When the horn output is used as a brake light driver, Fault Beep (see Horn menu) should be programmed Off. When Brake Light is set to Off, the horn output acts as a horn driver.
  • Applications: pallet stacker, pallet truck, tractor, scooter / moped / trike, etc.
